The global emergency of COVID-19 has threatened the lives of millions of people, including learners and teachers. But in education, the show must go on, that why is the Department of Education always find ways to continue education amidst pandemic through remote learning as an alternative. Since we are now in a new normal, all is new specially in the basic education particularly in school run by the government. Everyone seeks for the best way they could give just to deliver the lesson in a very concise and easy to understand. Filipino teachers and learners are known to be resilient. We always manage to rise above the challenges with a smile and a hopeful heart instead of wallowing.Pandemic it is not a hindrance to stop our passion for reading in the lives of our learners. Reading is the Key to learning and basic skills that every learner must have.

Recent studies show that reading comprehension has great contributions to learners on Math and Science learning. As perceived by most teachers in the higher grades, learning is impaired due to reading deficiency. And this fact lingers and echoes in our hearts as reading advocates. Hence, on the 9th week of the first Quarter SY 2020-2021,  Alapan II Elementary School teachers headed by Mrs. Ma. Rosalyn  M. Pagtakhan- Principal II administered PHIL-IRI both online and offline. Pupils under Modular Modality were convened at Kapitan Miling Sports Complex with a limited number of pupils under the scheduled time and had observed health protocols. Some teachers did home visitations just to know the reading ability of their pupils. For Synchronous and Asynchronous classes administration of Phil-IRI was done online individually. The following are the results of Phil IRI obtained by each grade level.
